Keeping Your Data Safe

Our latest achievements show our commitment to protecting your data

Across the health and wellbeing sector, consistency matters. When services collect different information, follow different referral processes or report outcomes in different ways, it becomes harder to understand what is working, compare impact across regions and scale successful approaches.

These are so much more than certificates. Together, these two achievements show that we are serious about protecting the information, including NHS and social care data, that our customers rely on every day to deliver their exercise and health programmes.

It may not be the most glamorous announcement we’ve ever made, but it’s certainly one of the most important. Cyber crime is a growing challenge for all organisations. Our customers use ReferAll to support referral pathways, manage information and help people access exercise and health services. They are often dealing with highly personal and sensitive information, so security and trust are absolutely vital.

What does this mean for you?

Cyber Essentials Plus includes rigorous testing and assessment. As part of the process, an independent assessor tested our security systems and controls to verify that we implement best practice and have appropriate measures in place to keep information secure and confidential.  We passed with flying colours, but what that does that mean for our customers?

- Security is a priority. Cyber security and data protection is not a one-off exercise or something we do to tick a box. As a trusted referral system, we take our responsibility seriously and are committed to maintaining high standards when it comes to protecting the information and services our customers depend on.

- Reducing the risk of cyber attacks. Cyber attacks are expected to rise significantly thanks to the use of AI. This achievement shows that we are defending against common cyber threats, including phishing, malware and ransomware.

- We understand the importance of your data. Exercise and health referral services involve information that must be handled responsibly and securely. Cyber Essentials Plus shows that we have controls in place to keep information secure and confidential, while being rated as ‘Standards Exceeded’ for DSPT assures our customers of our commitment to security and data protection.

- Independent verification. Don’t take our word for it. Our security controls have been independently verified and robustly assessed against a recognised, UK Government-backed standard.

When our customers use ReferAll to support exercise and health referrals, they need to know that the technology behind their service is secure. We are actively investing in the measures needed to protect our technology and the information we handle, while continually reviewing and strengthening our approach to cyber security and data protection. These achievements are part of that and give our customers greater assurance that we take their security, safety and trust seriously.
